modular is as modern as mass production and repeatable experiences. all have been done to death. channeling Dr. Frankenstein, we embarked on a strange quest to revive whatever parts of these monsters we find scattered along the way. on a yet to be determined site of a vacant lot somewhere in Hawaii, this indoor/outdoor market is to be a constant work-in-progress. each new storefront will be custom built on site and added to the compound as needed.
new tenants choose from a variety of basic configurations which can then be further customized for the intended use. the resulting mall is composed of individual independent contractor storefronts connected by a contiguous public space. this commune of professional services provides a necessary alternative for both small business owner’s and consumers in the growing gig economy by acting as an intermediate step between coffee shop offices and traditional brick and mortar models.
